EDT was established in 1984 and is a UK wide educational charity working in collaboration with industry, educators and partners to provide opportunities for young people of all ages. We help young people develop the STEM skills, knowledge and experience they need to take control of their futures and change the world around them.
Industrial Cadets accredited programmes and awards provide opportunities through education to employment, aiming to give every student aged 7-21 across the UK access to an Industrial Cadets programme, which provides them with the opportunity to develop critical skills for a career in STEM. These quality experiences inspire young minds, encourage attainment and bridge the skills gap between industry and education. There are five levels of Industrial Cadets - Challenger, Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum / Platinum Leader.
First inspired by Patron of Industrial Cadets, King Charles III, 2022 saw EDT celebrating the milestone of 100,000 Industrial Cadets and launching their ambition to see Industrial Cadets in every school, and for 250,000 Industrial Cadets on their way to a Million. 2023 is an exciting year for Industrial Cadets as we strengthen and build our impact for young people through our fantastic network of partners and move towards our goal of 250,000 Industrial Cadets by the end of2024.
The Industrial Cadets Platinum/ Platinum Leader award celebrates the achievements, hard work and commitment that goes into completing a Year in Industry Placement of between 9 - 12 months. This award gives young people the opportunity to differentiate themselves in the graduate job space by demonstrating progression and genuine engagement with their supporting company. This year our for the first time EDT are thrilled that our National Platinum/Platinum Leader award will be included in Enginuity's prestigious Skills Awards.
